A little toot!

Katie Hilbert of Memory Makers Magazine emailed me awhile back asking if she could feature this LO for the Idea gallery. Of course, who would refuse something like that. Anyway, here it is once again. Thanks so much Katie for selecting it. You can check it out right here

DISCOVERY

Discovery
My ds at the Angat Dam Watershed Tree planting event sponsored by Green Army, Task Force Climate Change, DOE, WWF and other NGOs.

Poem reads:

Breath
by J. Daniel Beaudry

Tree, gather up my thoughts
like the clouds in your branches.
Draw up my soul
like the waters in your root.

In the arteries of your trunk
bring me together.
Through your leaves
breathe out the sky.

The Power of One
This was during a tree planting event at the Angat Dam Watershed where we targeted to plant 10,000 seedlings. We brought our kids along to make them aware of the effects of global warming. Here's dd with her first potted seedling. TFL!

A Sentimental Tooot!

I recently visited the Tinkering Ink blog and they had this invitation to send layouts about being sick, being in the hospital or having frozen treats. I happened to have one that I did a while back about my little girl. I did it so that I wouldn't forget that moment and all I used was a freebie QP from Cottage Arts that had been sitting in my hard drive forever. I didn't spend hours working on it but it is one of my favorites because of the memory behind it.

I sent it out mainly to encourage little Preston who was going to have his tonsils and adenoids taken out. I know that  as a parent it is so difficult to see your child have to go through something like that and how important it is to reassure your child that everything will be alright. I am so happy that Preston picked my LO not because of the prizes (that's a bonus :D) but I hope he was encouraged by the smile on my kids faces and that maybe it made him a little braver. You can read more about it on the TI blog right here.

Bookoto's "Get Digi with Us" Shutterfly Prize

Yey! I can finally post it. :) This was my entry to Bookoto.com's  "Get Digi with Us" contest. Thank you so much to Julie, Sheryl and Ms. Renee Pearson for choosing my LO. I am grateful and humbled by it because ALL the layouts were truly amazing as well.  You can view all the awesome entries of these Pinay Scrappers at the Bookoto Gallery to see for yourself.  Congrats also to Kaje for winning the raffle!

here's an excerpt from their site:

The bookoto team and our special guest host, Renee Pearson have chosen the winning LO.

Renee announces:
"I have looked at the contest entries. They’re all so terrific it was hard to make a choice! :D But we have chosen: Truly Amazed by Marites Tirol! Hugs, Renee"

here's my writeup and the designer credits:

"I love this photo of my little girl because I never want her to lose that sense of awe and wonder even when she grows older. I hope that she will always be amazed at everything she experiences and that she will not take even the everyday ordinary things for granted. "

"I drew my inspiration from the paper layouts of the Scrapbook Exchange ladies and tried to duplicate the "cutting with an X-acto knife" technique by extracting the design from the Tinkering Ink Victoria paper and then I layered it on top of the bg paper and the photo and applied shadows. I then applied glitter styles to the edges to simulate applying glitter IRL to the cutout."
Techniques : Extraction, Layers, Drop Shadows, Blending, Glitter Styles, Texturizer
Software: PSCS3
Materials Used: Tinkering Ink Digital - Covent Garden Collection: Victoria paper, Alphabets,
Michelle Coleman - Edge Overlay
Shabby Princess -harvest spice stamped floral frame
Fafbr - Ouhlalasouris -staples
